Located in southern Beijing, its first constructed in 1420, during the 18th year of the reign of Ming Emperor Yongle, who was simply also responsible for the construction in the Forbidden City. The Temple of Heaven was where the emperors of this Ming and Qing dynasties worshipped heaven and prayed once and for all harvests. They came here twice 12 months, to the 15th day with the 1st lunar month together with on Winter Solstice. At first, both heaven and the earth were worshipped here during Beijing day tour. Your Temple of Heaven is round in the north and square in the south, implying the standard Chinese belief that theres a "round heaven together with square earth". Two layers of neighboring walls divide the temple in the Inner Altar and this Outer Altar. The a pair of altars, connected by a 360-metre-long raised walk termed the Vermilion Steps Link, are arranged in a line forming a north-south axis 1, two hundred meters long.
